Let's be honest about the name. “SHTF” gets your attention. But what we do with that attention is the opposite of what most people expect from a “prepper” brand. We're not here to sell fear, hoard for the end of the world, or convince you the sky is falling. We're here to help ordinary families do one sensible thing: be ready for the emergencies that actually happen.
Storms. Power outages. Water-main breaks. Winter weather. Wildfire smoke. A short-notice evacuation. These aren't doomsday fantasies — they're the disruptions real households face every year. Being ready for them isn't paranoia. It's just good parenting, good planning, and a little peace of mind.

The number one reason families don't prepare isn't cost or doubt — it's overwhelm. The topic feels enormous, the advice online is contradictory and intense, and it's hard to know where to even start. So most people do nothing.
We exist to fix that. Every guide we write and every kit we curate is built to give you a clear, calm next step — not a 200-item checklist that paralyzes you. Start small. Scale smart. Build something you can actually maintain. Preparedness should lower your stress, not add to it.

When the lights go out, the gear has to work. Your family's safety is not the place to cut corners, and it's not the place to gamble on the cheapest thing in a marketplace search.
So we don't stock everything that exists — we stock what we'd stake our own family's safety on. Our team reviewed our full catalog and removed 87% of the products, keeping only the ones we'd actually use in our own home. What's left is the water filtration, food storage, backup power, first aid, and safety gear families genuinely rely on. If it didn't pass that test, it isn't here. That's the standard — and it's why you can trust what you find on these pages.

Who's behind the promise
SHTF Prepper Club is owned and run by Ben and Zach Edmond — a father and son, based in Massachusetts, who built this around their own kitchen table. There's a certain logic to a family running a family-preparedness company: the people writing the guides and choosing the gear are asking the same question you are — would this actually keep the people I love safe?
